Bouncie was recently in the news for helping a father and son track down a car that had been stolen from their driveway. The small Ohio town of Anderson Township had been experiencing a string of robberies when one thief made the mistake of stealing a vehicle equipped with a Bouncie device.
Ryan Hensley and his son discovered the car was missing early one morning when Hensley received an alert from the Bouncie app, notifying him that the vehicle was idling in a parking lot far from his home. Acting quickly, the duo decided to track the car using the app while contacting the police.
With real-time updates from Bouncie, Hensley provided the 911 operator with precise timestamps and locations where the vehicle had been turned on and off. "So I can tell it left my house at 5:18 a.m. this morning, and I guess maybe it just turned off at 6:02 a.m. I can't tell if it's on," said Hensley to the dispatcher..
Shortly after, police located the stolen car and apprehended the suspect, just minutes after Hensley and his son had passed by it on the road. Inside the vehicle, authorities found it in disarray, along with stolen items and packages, including a television.
